How do Ingress Protection (IP) ratings work?

An IP rating, or Ingress Protection rating, is a two-digit code that classifies how well an electrical enclosure is protected against solids (like dust) and liquids (like water). The first digit indicates protection against solids, and the second digit indicates protection against liquids, with higher numbers meaning greater protection.

ViriDyn's protects consumer electronics from moisture and contaminant ingress. An IP rating, or Ingress Protection rating, classifies how well an electrical enclosure is protected against solids and liquids.
