VIRIDYN 101-X: PTFE Porous Membranes

The Challenge:

A PTFE membrane manufacturer required an oleophobic coating and solvent combination for PTFE porous sintered membranes providing venting in the chemical packaging, automotive, and medical device sectors.

The customers requirements for the coating were:

  1. Oleophobic grades 6-8 (AATCC)

  2. Ease of application through solvent delivery

  3. Retained porous qualities

The Solution:

ViriDyn and partners worked closely with the customer to identify the correct formulation that would offer the correct grade of oleophobicity in an easily-deliverable formulation for high-volume manufacturing. A formulation of VIRIDYN 101-X was identified as the best solution, ensuring that the coatings could be applied quickly and cost-effectively while yielding a high-performance, reliable membrane.

In addition to the customer’s requirements, ViriDyn and partners were able to offer the following additional advantages:

  1. Efficient trials for minimum time-to-market

  2. Flexibility of application process

  3. Local on-the-ground support

  4. Superior cost-efficiency
